The Furman Paladins faced off against the Tulane Green Wave on Friday, Nov. 15, and maintained a sturdy lead throughout the game. According to ESPN, approximately 3,000 fans filled the seats at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
The Dins shot 37.9% from the field and made 36.1% of their three-point shots throughout the game. Noteworthy players during the game featured senior guard PJay Smith Jr., who made 54.5% of his three-point shots and led the team in scoring with 29 points. Other notable players included graduate transfer guard Nick Anderson, who added 19 points, and junior forward Davis Molnar with 10 rebounds.
The Paladins performed dominantly on both offense and defense with seven turnovers compared to Tulane’s 12. The Green Wave demonstrated tremendous pressure in the paint, with almost half of their points scored either by lay-ups or dunks. The Paladins showed far more willingness to take three-point shots, with 36 three-point attempts made compared to Tulane’s 18. Both teams received a similar number of free throw attempts and shot roughly 80% from the line, with Tulane and Furman shooting 79 and 82 percent respectively.
The dominant win over previously undefeated Tulane brought Furman’s record to 4-0, demonstrating Furman’s serious offensive potential. The Paladins face off against the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels next on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at Legacy Early College High School.
