Hey everyone! This is Carter Ozburn, and I’m here to usher in the new year with an update on The Paladin. We have an all-new board this year, and I couldn’t be more excited about the future. With their help, The Paladin will continue in its 109th year as an independent, student-run newspaper reflecting the student body’s perspective. As there is no content to highlight below (yet), I think it would be nice to display our plan for the new year!
The Paladin will remain in its print and digital formats, offering both, and I would love to see it expand into more forms of media as well. Be on the lookout for more videos and podcasts/audio formats! We have a Spotify linked below that will contain all of this, as well as monthly playlists full of songs our staff is digging at the moment.
We would love to continue things like our newsletters! These offer more rapid-fire, casual content, and are fun to make. We will still highlight stories below, but will be speaking more on campus content that is better addressed here. So be on the lookout for The Works and other newsletters we will be continuing into the new year!
We would also love to announce Knight Life, a new section for the newspaper. This will house our audio/visual content and be a place for more casual, personality-forward reporting on campus life and culture as a whole. Content like cartoons, games, or columns will thrive there as well as creative writing or art. The door is essentially wide open as of right now. We’ve heard a lot of interest for this section over the last semester, and will be starting to gradually incorporate it more and more into our content schedule.
As we enter the new year with the new staff, we will be needing more and more feedback from our readers! Please feel free to reach out to me or anyone on the staff with article ideas, reactions to content, or if you’re interested in writing (please). Things like Knight Life or our newsletters will be entirely dependent on how much involvement or interest we maintain throughout, and I would absolutely love to expand there.
