The Furman Paladins played their final home game of the week against the Chattanooga Mocs at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in downtown Greenville, S.C. on Jan. 18th, 2025.
Despite the ultimate loss, the Paladins performed strong offensively, shooting 43.1% from the field and making 43.5% of their three-point shots. However, they struggled at the free-throw line, converting only 60.7% of their foul shots compared to Chattanooga’s 89.3%.
Furman’s defense faltered, especially in the second half of the game. The Mocs scored 48 points compared to Furman’s 37, nabbed 12 offensive rebounds to Furman’s nine and scored 15 fast break points to Furman’s four.
Once again, the Paladins’ highest scorer was senior guard PJay Smith Jr., who scored 18 points, with senior guard Nick Anderson not far behind scoring 15 points. A notable defensive player of the night was sophomore forward Cooper Bowser, who seized six defensive rebounds and made two blocks.
The home loss brings Furman’s overall record to 15-4 and conference record to 3-3. The Dins will take to the road for a series of games next week, facing VMI on Jan. 22 at 6 p.m. and Mercer on Jan. 25 at 4:30 p.m.. Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.

The Furman Paladins found themselves unable to fend off a second-half comeback by the Mocs, bringing their conference record to 3-3.
