Furman Football (6-2) triumphed over VMI 41-3 on Saturday. This dominant Southern Conference victory on the road must have finally impressed the Stats Perform analysists. Furman have cracked the CS Top 25 Poll at #24 for the first time this season after the win.

The Paladins are not the only Southern Conference team to be ranked in FCS Top 25. In fact, three other SoCon teams emerge in the poll.

Safe to say, the Dins are yet to reach their saturation point. On the contrary, their eyes are set to go further up in the rankings. Luckily, the opportunity will come knocking on their door this Saturday in a 2.00 p.m. content versus #7 Chattanooga (6-1). The Chattanooga Mocs are unbeaten in Southern Conference so far after four conference games. This will be a battle of two SoCon powerhouses on a three-game winning streak. Paladin Stadium will also be highlighting Homecoming Weekend at Furman.

The last time Furman took on a Top 10 ranked opponent at home, the Paladins knocked off then sixth-ranked Wofford 34-14 in 2018. While the rankings favor Chattanooga on Saturday’s game, Furman has a dynamic squad that has gone above and beyond to exceed expectations when needed. There is a reason why the Stats Perform analysists ranked Furman above Princeton (6-0, 3-0 Ivy), Elon (5-3, 3-2 CAA), Villanova (4-3, 2-2 CAA), and University of Pennsylvania (6-0, 3-0 Ivy). For this reason, I believe the Paladins will have a fair chance against the Mocs on Homecoming Weekend.
