Furman Men’s Tennis head coach J.J. Whitlinger announced the team’s schedule for the 2023 season. The upcoming season’s schedule features 22 matches, out of which 10 are to be played at Mickel Tennis Center – Furman’s home court. The 2023 slate also includes seven matches versus SoCon rivals.

“This season, we have put together a strong schedule. Our non-conference matches are extremely challenging and that’s why you play the game,” remarked Whitlinger. “We want to give our guys the opportunity to compete at the highest level and test themselves continuously through the season. Sasha and I are looking forward to seeing how our team reacts through the highs and lows of the upcoming season.”

Starting on January 14–15, Furman will play four straight road games against Clemson and Georgia Tech. The Paladins begin their road trip at Tulane on Jan. 20 and end it in South Alabama two days later. The home portion of Furman’s schedule gets underway on Jan. 28 as the Dins host Belmont Abbey.

“The Boys” kick off February with an away match at Georgia State on Feb. 5. They then play four consecutive home matches to finish the month against:

Furman’s March schedule begins with three consecutive away matches in Texas: the Paladins will compete against Baylor (Mar. 5), UTSA (Mar. 7), and UT Arlington (Mar. 9) in the span of five days. A doubleheader versus Converse and Richmond is what the Dins will look forward to after heading back home.

Furman hosts UNC Greensboro and Samford, Mar. 19 and Mar. 27 , in its first two Southern Conference matches to conclude the month.

Four of Furman’s give matches in April will be on the road:

The Paladins play their final home match on Apr. 13 against Mercer after three straight contests versus league rivals, prior to finishing the regular season at Wofford.

The 2023 Southern Conference Men’s Tennis Championship is scheduled to be held Apr. 21-23.

Furman finished 15-9 last season and went 6-1 in the SoCon with Whitlinger at the helm, who is entering his eighth year overall with the Dins and fourth as head coach.

The Paladins return eight letter-winners from last year’s roster and welcome four newcomers, including three freshmen and one transfer sophomore.
