A new club on campus is aiming to help Furman’s aspiring auteurs bring their cinematic visions to life. Founded last semester, the Film Club works to encourage student film production and has already helped FU-2, the campus television channel, produce its first content in years.

Sophomore Hope Ogunsile founded the club based on her interest in writing screenplays and producing independent films, wanting to create an environment that would allow students to apply classroom learning toward film projects that they’re passionate about.

Ogunsile said the Film Club is planning to produce a reality show based on the lives of Furman students. The show will feature stories written in collaboration with students and performed by students seeking to bring these stories to life.

“Furman students are more than just students. We present a certain image to the world, but we have our own lives, our own stories,” Ogunsile said. “I want people to have a chance to share those stories.”

Auditions for actors will be held Feb. 6 at 6 p.m. in the Watkins Room. Students interested in the reality show or the Film Club’s other projects can email Ogunsile at [email protected] for more information.
