Letter from the Editor

We’re back! Congratulations to everyone for making it through the first week of class.

As a senior, it is hard to believe that I have reached my fourth year at Furman. Last Sunday, I went to the carnival for the first time since freshman year. While I held on for dear life on that anxiety-inducing spin cycle ride, I remembered feeling the same way freshman year.

Whatever year this is for you at Furman, I hope that these next two semesters expand your college experience. Think critically about how you plan to spend your time. The best decisions I have made in college came from challenging what I accepted as the norm for myself.

On behalf of The Paladin staff, we look forward to serving the Furman community through our dedication to student journalism. There is much that goes on in this corner of Poinsett Highway. If you are interested in writing, send me or any of our section editors an email or apply here. Good luck this semester!– Scotty Bryan    Editor in Chief, The Paladin

Summer Recap

Mold in North Village🔗Believe it or not, I spent over three months working on this story. In addition to conversations with students and administrators, I hired a professional certified mold inspector to analyze the state of mold in North Village housing. Investigative reporting such as visiting the lab and climbing on chairs to look up air vents in North Village with a flashlight made this my most gratifying  journalistic experience thus far. Read to learn more about Shi Pope’s mold-related trip to the ICU and what the microbial test results found.

I’m a Senior Who’s Never Eaten at the P-Den🔗Oscar Guillen reflected on his rare experience of being a Furman student who spent four years without eating at the P-Den. That Chick-fil-a sandwich he got from the P-Den to celebrate graduation must have tasted phenomenal.

Looking Forward

Have a fantastic week, and don’t forget to check the latest content at https://thepaladin.news!
